Case study, Self-storage

Container storage, priced openly and reserved in minutes.

Discount Storage rents secure container storage in Bristol with 24/7 drive-up access. The site's job is simple and unforgiving: answer the price question, then take the reservation.

The brief

The brief.

Self-storage is a local, price-led purchase with a short decision window. Someone searching has a van booked or a house move landing. They want to know what a unit costs, whether they can get to it out of hours, and how quickly they can have it. Most storage sites bury all three behind a quote form.

The brief was to build the opposite: a site that leads with price and access, moves straight into a reservation, and does not waste the visitor's time on the way.

Scope

What we built.

  1. 01

    Transparent pricing

Weekly pricing stated on the page rather than gated behind an enquiry, with terms and any offer shown alongside it.

  2. 02

    Unit range pages

Container sizes presented with what each realistically holds, so visitors self-select before they reach the reservation step.

  3. 03

    Short reservation flow

A reserve path kept deliberately brief, positioned as the primary action across the site.

  4. 04

    Waitlist capture

When a unit size sells out, the page captures interest instead of dead-ending, so demand for the size is recorded.

  5. 05

    Location and access detail

Directions, site access and 24/7 drive-up arrangements set out clearly, since access is a deciding factor in this category.

  6. 06

    FAQ and blog layer

The recurring pre-purchase questions answered on site, supporting both the visitor and the search footprint.

Decisions

Build decisions.

  1. 01

    Price on the page

Gating price filters out serious buyers faster than it qualifies them. Stating it up front means the enquiries that arrive already accept the number.

  2. 02

Sold out is still a lead

A full unit size is a demand signal. Capturing the waitlist turns an empty result into pipeline and tells the business what to buy next.

  3. 03

Access details treated as sales copy

In storage, 24/7 drive-up access is the differentiator, so it sits in the hero rather than an operations note near the footer.
