Sector, Manufacturing & industrial

Industrial and manufacturing website design.

For manufacturers, engineers and industrial suppliers whose product range is the business. We build the catalogue, the specifications and the enquiry route as the structure of the site, hand-coded so it stays fast however deep the range goes.

The problem

The problem with most industrial websites.

Industrial websites tend to fail in the same way. The range is the business, and the site treats it as an afterthought: a handful of category pages, a downloadable PDF holding all the technical detail, and a contact form at the end. Everything a buyer needs to make a decision is on the site somewhere, and none of it is findable.

That matters because of how industrial buying actually works. The buyer arrives with a specification, a hazard, a tolerance or a part number, not a brand in mind. They are often specifying on behalf of someone else and will have to justify the choice. If your site cannot answer a technical question without a phone call, they will find one that can, and you will never know they were there.

The second failure is speed. Catalogue sites get heavy, and heavy sites get abandoned, particularly when they are opened on a phone in a workshop rather than at a desk. Most of that weight is the platform, not the content.

How we build

How we build for this sector.

  1. 01

    The range drives the structure

Product architecture designed around how buyers filter and compare, not around the internal product tree. Every line worth selling gets a page worth ranking.

  2. 02

    Specifications on the page

Materials, tolerances, sizes and compliance published as page content rather than locked inside a datasheet download, so search can read them and buyers can find them.

  3. 03

Entry by problem, not part number

Routes in by the application or hazard being solved. The buyer who does not know your naming conventions is the one you are currently losing.

  4. 04

    Two purchase paths

A direct route for stock orders and a separate specified route for larger installs that need measuring, so neither buyer is forced down the wrong funnel.

  5. 05

    Tools that answer questions

Where a calculation or planner removes a recurring pre-sales question, we build it. It is cheaper than answering the same email four hundred times.

  6. 06

    Fast, hand-coded, no platform tax

Built on Astro rather than a page builder, so a deep catalogue does not turn into a slow site and page weight stays under control.

  7. 07

    Technical long-tail search

Structure, schema and internal linking set up for the specific queries that bring qualified buyers, rather than the head terms that bring competitors and students.

  8. 08

    Distributor-aware content

If you sell through distributors, the site's job is credibility and specification support, not transaction. We build for that job rather than pretending otherwise.

Who it's for

For businesses where the specification is the sale.

Usually a manufacturer, supplier or engineering firm with a range too large or too technical for a brochure site, winning work on capability and reputation but losing enquiries because the website cannot carry either. Often the current site was built once, years ago, and has been patched since.

FAQs

Questions, answered.

Can you handle a large product catalogue?
Yes. The interesting work is deciding what earns its own page, how buyers filter, and what has to be on the page rather than in a download. We have built catalogue-led sites for industrial suppliers where the range itself, rather than the marketing copy, is what brings in the enquiries.
Our products are technical. Can you write about them accurately?
We do not pretend to be engineers. We interview the people who are, and write from what they tell us, then send it back for technical sign-off before anything ships. Nothing goes live claiming something your team has not confirmed.
We sell through distributors, is a website still worth it?
Often more so. The site is where a specifier checks you are credible before asking their distributor for you by name, and where technical questions get answered without occupying your sales team. That is a real job and a website does it well.
What about integrating with our ERP or product data?
Where there is a usable data source we build against it rather than asking anyone to maintain a second copy by hand. Where there is not, we will tell you what the honest options are, including the option of not integrating yet.
How long does an industrial site take?
A focused landing page in a few days. A full catalogue-led site is usually a matter of weeks, and the product data almost always sets the pace rather than the build. Getting the range clean is the long pole.
Do you work with manufacturers outside the Midlands?
Yes. The studio is in Derby, and a good share of the work is regional, but this is remote-first work and clients are UK-wide. Proximity helps at the start of a project and stops mattering once the build is underway.
